What is a Project Form or Record book?
Record books and project forms allow you to record your activities so you can remember all the fun you have had in 4-H so far, along with set future goals! Keeping records of 4-H projects can help you when applying for college scholarships, complete school applications and your resume! Record books and project forms are you recording your information about your annual 4-H projects.

Which should a 4-Her complete a project forms, record book or BOTH?
*DO NOT DO BOTH! Doing both is not necessary - use the following guidelines to help you make your choice.
1) 4-Her is in 3rd - 7th grade? Yes - Go to question #2. No - Skip to Question 3
2) Are you actively involved in more than 2 4-H projects? Yes - Do a record book! No - Project Forms are for you!
3) Are you planning on applying for 4-H Scholarships or any upper leadership awards? Yes - Do a record book! No - Do project forms

It is our recommendation that at minimum youth in 3rd - 7th grade complete a 4-H project form for each project they are active in. This is a great way to start getting into the record keeping habit and prepare for completing a record book! We recommend all youth that plan on applying for leadership positions or 4-H scholarships start completing their record books in 8th grade. Youth do not have to work backwards for the 4 years but they should start and include the information for their 8th grades school year.

Record book Form Charts:
We encourage you to use charts and bulleted lists instead of writing paragraphs in your book. This is for 2 reasons: 1) It is easier to update from one year to the next, you don't have to re-write everything. 2) Judges are reviewing lots of books -- we want to make it as easy as possible for them to review!

Email -  Emily to get charts to put in your record book forms! emily.grant@ag.tamu.edu
