Sheep & Goat Validation

Validation will be by appointment on Monday, June 19th from 8:00-11:30 a.m. and 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the Gillespie County Extension Office, 38 Business Court, Fredericksburg.

If you have over 10 head to validate, validation will be on Tuesday, June 20th in the afternoon/evening. Please contact Emily Grant or Brad Roeder to arrange a time.

NEW THIS YEAR- All lambs and goats validated during the 2023 State Fair Validation Period WILL BE ELIGIBLE for 2024 Spring Major Shows if the animal stays in the care of the exhibitor it is validated to.

EXTRA TAGS- We ordered plenty of extra tags! Due to being able to roll over sheep and goats that are validated for state fair to spring shows –PLEASE BRING any sheep and goat you have on feed that you plan on showing at a 2024 major! We will go ahead and validate anything you have on feed!

Steer and Heifer Validation

Validation will be by appointment on Tuesday, June 20 from 8:00-11:30 a.m. at Schneider Brahmans 1571 Alfred Petsch Rd, Fredericksburg or Monday, June 26 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Gillespie Vet Center, 402 S Creek St, Fredericksburg.

Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Junior Market Auction Exhibitors: Guaranteed Premium Checks for the Market Barrow, Market Steer, Market Poultry, and Market Lamb and Goat Auctions went out in the mail this week! These were sent to the exhibitors directly, please be on the lookout for them!

National 4-H Congress will be held Friday, November 24th through Tuesday, November 28th at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, Georgia. National 4-H Congress is the flagship event of the National 4-H program. Each year a National Design Team of Extension educators, 4-H youth, and 4-H adult volunteers analyze current youth issues and determine the most effective ways to address them. The program combines a variety of fun and exciting educational, recreational, and networking opportunities. The program combines sessions, seminars, discussion groups, and a service-learning experience. The nation’s most outstanding community leaders, speakers, and educators present the most current and timely information available. Applications will open on May 24th and must be submitted online and certified through 4HOnline by Tuesday, June 13, 2023. There is not a fee for this application to be completed online.
