Quality Counts is an online program designed to teach youth to have high standards in caring for their livestock.  The program focuses on displaying good character while working with livestock. This number is required for ALL stock show entries (county AND major stock shows). Quality Counts must be completed at each grade level division (junior – grades 3-5, intermediate – grades 6-8, senior – grades 9-12). It does not have to be renewed every year.

Applications for the 2024-2025 Texas 4-H STEM Ambassadors are now open and will close at midnight on July 31, 2024.  A promotional video overview of the team can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_QpoIx2HI4. 

 

Mission

As STEM Ambassadors, our mission is to educate communities about science, technology, engineering, and math opportunities; both inside and outside of 4-H, while learning essential skills in STEM, communication, and teamwork.

Applicants will need to create a simple profile on Submittable to complete the application.   The application requires (among other details) several written narratives, a 2–3-minute personal video narrative, as well as two letters of recommendations. 

 

Eligibility for New Members

• A Texas 4-H member entering the 9th – 12th grade (as of September 1, 2024).                    JUST ANNOUNCED: 10 Day European trip in July 2025 for any ACTIVE STEM Ambassador and a Parent more information to come in August!
• Complete and submit the application by July 31, 2024. 
• Have a willingness to learn about and promote STEM.
• Attend a mandatory virtual orientation along with his/her parents/guardians on August 29 at 7 PM.
• Attend the mandatory fall and spring in-person meetings (dates will be listed in the application).
• Be willing to work collaboratively on a team with other youth and adults.
• Be responsive and engaged in team communications.
• Share knowledge and skills with others.
• Not serving on the 2024-25 Texas 4-H Council.
• Applications will be reviewed in August and applicants notified by the August 25th.

The 4-H BBQ is ramping up and we need volunteers and sponsors! Scan the QR code to sign up as a volunteer and share with others for pre-sale meal and raffle tickets!

Texas 4-H Foundation Development Districts 10 and 12 are hosting a fishing tournament in Rockport on July 19^th and 20th. Anyone is welcome to compete. All funds raised at the event will directly support youth in Texas 4-H Districts 10 and 12.

The weekly spotlight goes out to all the Gillespie 4-H BB Gun National Team Members for their participation in Rogers, Arkansas over the 4th of July week. Each kiddo did an amazing job representing Gillespie County this year!
